(Los Angeles, CA) Sterling Transportation is excited to announce the latest addition to the management team – Jim Flannigan. Flannigan is well-known in the industry and comes to Sterling Transportation with an excess of experience.
“Everyone knows Jim. He started in this business when we used typewriters to cut airbills and everyone carried a pager,” said Keith Davis, CEO of Sterling Transportation.
Flannigan brings more than 25 years of experience to Sterling. He started on the warehouse floor building pallets before moving inside where he learned to make bookings and cut airway bills. He’s held positions in almost every department in companies of all sizes — from start-ups, like his own company, to billion dollar corporations. Over the course of his career he has gained experience in all aspects of the industry: Domestic, international, import, export, freight forwarding, sea, air, rail, and trucking.
When asked about joining the team, Flannigan said, “Up until a few weeks ago, technically, I was a freight forwarding customer of Sterling’s. I know the company well – I have worked with them for my entire career. Keith has built a strong brand— the Sterling Transportation name has a lot of respect in the marketplace. With that kind of foundation to build on, the possibilities are endless.”
As an entrepreneur at heart, Flannigan is looking forward to trading in the silos of big business for higher involvement across all aspects of a smaller business. “At a larger corporation, I could be really good at my job and not see the impact on the bottom-line. At a Sterling, I feel I will be able to see the needle move and have a bigger impact on the company’s success. I am truly excited to see what we can do.”
Flannigan joins Sterling Transportation as General Manager and will work primarily out of the Los Angeles Headquarters. “Jim is going to help with both long-term strategy and day-to-day operations. He is a welcome addition to the team and will be a key player in our growth,” added Davis
